Good News: Microchip Helps Reunite Family With Dog Missing For Eight Years

The Hendry family lost their dog, Jasper, when he escaped from their yard eight years ago. Tiffany Hendry says they checked the pound and around their Louisiana neighborhood, but never found Jasper. Eventually, they felt like they’d never see him again, but they got a shocking call from the Houston SPCA recently telling them that their dog was alive and well in Texas.

The family wasn’t sure how Jasper could make it all the way to Houston, but later found out he was probably taken by someone in nearby West Monroe, Louisiana, who later moved to Texas with the dog. Because Jasper was microchipped, the SPCA was able to contact the Hendrys and finally reunite them.

A family friend drove the pooch home for the Hendrys and happy to be under one roof again. They say Jasper still remembers them after all this time. “It’s like these moments where he looked at me dead in the eye almost if like to say, ‘I know you,’” Tiffany says. “He was just looking into my heart saying, ‘I know who you are and I never forgot you.’”
