Bikers in New Zealand have pledged to stand guard outside mosques on Friday during the first prayer service after the mass shooting in Christchurch, which killed 50 and left 50 more injured on March 15th.
Riders from gangs including The Mongrel Mob and King Cobra have promised to protect the Muslim communities in their local communities across the country.
Waikato Mongrel Mob president Sonny Fatu says someone reached out to them and said members of the Muslim community were afraid about this week’s Friday prayers, the first one since the shooting.
He says they won’t be armed, but they will be there to allow them to pray without being fearful. “We will support and assist our Muslim brothers and sisters for however long they need us,” he explains.
