We already knew that pregnancy wasn't going to stop Katy Perry from pushing "Daisies," but the pop star went the extra mile during iHeartMedia and Procter & Gamble's "Can't Cancel Pride: Helping LGBTQ+ People In Need."
On Thursday (June 25), Perry was introduced by Tituss Burgess for her appearance in the one-hour special aimed at helping the LGBTQ+ community impacted by the coronavirus pandemic. However, unlike other musical numbers, her appearance was almost like a music video as the expectant mother crooned to the Oliver Heldens' remix of the single in a number of animated set-ups, involving a bed full of daises, a wigged mop, Chinese food and more. As an extra special treat, this edit of the remix also heard Helden sneak in bits of Perry’s hits, including "I Kissed A Girl," "Peacock" and "Swish Swish."
Among the other performers who appeared during the virtual benefit include Kim Petras, Ricky Martin and Sia. Funds from the all-star benefit went to the National Black Justice Coalition, GLAAD, SAGE, The Trevor Project, CenterLink and OutRight Action International.
Perry's original mix of "Daisies" serves as the lead single off the pop star's upcoming as-yet-untitled new album, which is due August 14. Details about the collection are scarce, but the star recently revealed that one of the tracks featured on the LP is titled "Teary Eyes," as well as another titled "What Makes A Woman." The latter is dedicated to her unborn baby girl. Perry is expected to give birth in several weeks. She is reportedly spending time in her hometown of Santa Barbara, California, alongside fiancé Orlando Bloom.
