A 17-year-old boy in Port Richey, Florida, is being credited with helping to save his five-year-old nonverbal autistic sister from a lake earlier this week.
On Monday, Pasco County Sheriff’s Deputies responded after reports that the girl had been seen in the water at Lake Lisa Park.
When deputies arrived on the scene, they found the teen in the lake holding onto a branch while keeping his sister safe.
Body camera footage shows the deputy pulling both siblings to safety.
The sheriff’s office later commended the teen’s bravery on social media and reminded families about its Safety Net Tracking program for individuals prone to wandering.
